CGC Corporate Council

CGC Corporate Council

The Inaugural CGC Corporate Council (Council) begins in January 2025 and registration is now available. It is comprised of companies engaged in developing, manufacturing, and distributing products and services for the genetics and genomics industry. The Council will provide a forum for CGC and its corporate partners to share information that can support genetics and genomics professionals in achieving the highest standards in researching, testing, reporting and teaching. Council partners will advise the CGC as it pursues its goal to promote best practices in clinical cancer genomics.

Connect with Industry Professionals
CGC has 400+ members and has been on a sustained upward trajectory in membership growth. With over 8000 genomic professionals in its database, it reaches more through its annual conference, webinars, publications, Early Career Resources, and additional online resources. Members and followers are employed in jobs across the industry spectrum, working in hospitals, research centers, clinics, universities, and testing laboratories. Most CGC constituents have decision-making roles for choosing products and services they will use in their laboratories.

The CGC Board of Directors is a group of dedicated volunteers committed to CGC’s mission: to provide high quality education and promote best laboratory practices in clinical cancer genomics. They have a high profile among those who turn to CGC for its resources and expertise. As such, Directors hear from genetics professionals regarding their projects, goals and challenges. This information can inform corporate partners as to gaps and changes in the market. It benefits all parties when partners can generate solutions to industry problems.

Council Interaction with the CGC Board of Directors

  • The CGC Board will invite the Council Chair to provide quarterly updates at the CGC Board’s regular meetings.  In turn, the CGC will report how it is using Council members’ funds to deliver desired training and education to the community. Committees may make presentations that supplement the President’s report.
  • The Council Partners may request meetings with CGC Board members, to be held virtually, to seek the board members’ advice or thoughts on industry issues and challenges. CGC Board members can serve as a sounding board for Council Partners and provide insights regarding current issues in cancer genomics.
  • CGC’s Board of Directors and all Council Partners will co-host an in-person meeting at the CGC Annual Meeting. The format will be a breakfast meeting with a moderator to facilitate an open exchange of ideas based on a topic chosen in advance. Council partners will also be invited to provide feedback regarding their experience with the Annual Meeting. This session would be an opportunity to review the annual meeting and discuss whether it met their objectives for networking and promotion.
